Copperberry

This short fruit tree grows up to 7 feet (2.1 meters) tall and lives for up to 20 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 28 years old. It is somewhat resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a wide, straight trunk covered in very thick, wrinkled, silver bark, and inside, the light wood is pale yellow.

The branches are short and thin and are covered with thick bunches of miniature, very narrow and elongated leaves with serrated edges. The leaves themselves are amber on the sides and copper at the center.

In early spring, it produces large amounts of giant, sky blue blossoms with slender, pointed petals. They are very delicate and have a strong scent that smells like bleach.

In early summer it produces tiny, broad, flat fruit. The soft lilac skin is thick and sweet and spicy, and the very soft amber flesh is sour and sticky. The grey seed is large and is in the centre of the fruit.

The roots are thick and spread across the surface, as well as underground, and overall the tree is rigid and weak, and breaks apart easily.

Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with the space between filled with undergrowth.
