Mahogany

This large tree grows up to 71 meters (233.0 feet) tall and lives for centuries, with the oldest known specimen being around 233 years old. It is very resistant to destructive insect infestation but susceptible to disease.

It has a very thick, curved trunk covered in ridged, brown and grey bark, and inside, the light wood is mahogany-coloured.

The branches are very long and slender and are covered with handfuls of smooth, miniature, spear shaped leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are gray-green with slate tips.

In late summer it forms medium-sized, orange, winged seeds that spin and fall nearby.

The roots spread far and go deep underground, and overall the tree is sturdy, flexible, and difficult to uproot or break.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with grassy ground between them.
