Pinkfern

Shrub type: Coniferous (Stores water in its leaves)

This large shrub grows up to 9 feet (2.7 meters) tall and lives for around 21 years. It is somewhat resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has numerous narrow, wonky stems covered in thick, knobbly, brown-green speckled bark, and the wood inside is white.

The branches are short, rigid and upright with thousands of twigs that and are covered with large amounts of miniature, perforated, leaves with wavy edges. The leaves themselves are pink and black, sturdy and covered in fine hairs.

It produces thick bunches of small, cream flowers with pleated petals with a tube-like floral cup. They detach easily and have a powerful scent that smells like perfume. In late autumn it forms largeolive, tough-shelled seeds.

It is suitable for creating strong, durable textiles
