Magenta

This average-sized shrub grows up to 4 feet (1.2 meters) tall and lives for around 44 years. It is very susceptible to disease and insect infestation.

It has many sturdy, slanted stems covered in fine, smooth, brown and grey bark, and the wood inside is copper-coloured.

The branches are tall, rigid and upright with hundreds of twigs that and are covered with large amounts of miniature, asymmetrical, leaves with rounded edges. The leaves themselves are magenta and yellow, frail and leathery.

In late spring it produces lots of giant, lime blossoms with flame-shaped shaped petals. They are sturdy and have a strong scent that smells like citrus.

In early autumn very large long, straight fruits ripen. The smooth aquamarine skin is peel-able and sour, and the slightly crunchy beige flesh is sweet and oily. The dull green seeds are large and are scattered throughout the fruit.
