Red Teardrop Moss

This red moss is commonly found blanketing small areas In marshes.
It is big, growing up to 9 inches (23 cm) tall. It forms in small clumps and they overwhelm an area rapidly, and is overwhelmingly rigid.
When mature, emerald teardrop-shaped capsules grow at the end of short, lime green sporophytes, eventually opening up during the early winter to release millions of spores; it does not cause many allergic reactions.
