Bronzeberry

This small shrub grows up to 1 foot (30.5 cm) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 155 years old. It is very resistant to disease but is susceptible to destructive insect infestation.

It has many long and flexible, slanted stems covered in very thick, silky, light gray bark, and the wood inside is yellow.

The branches trail down across the ground with thousands of twigs that and are covered with copious amounts of tiny, wispy, leaves with serrated edges. The leaves themselves are a shade of burgundy that gradient shifts to bronze at the top, light and sticky.

In early summer it produces handfuls of small, cream blossoms with 9 shield-shaped shaped petals. They are hardy and have a scent whose strength depends on external factors, such as soil quality and rain frequency that smells like damp.

In early autumn small broad, flat fruits ripen. The leathery slate skin is peel-able and extremely spicy, and the soft red flesh is spicy and powdery. The grey seeds are tiny and are located in the centre of the fruit.
