Redvine

This modest-sized bine is a steady-growing plant, with the largest known specimen reaching a length of 33 feet (10.1 meters)0. It prefers to grow on rock formations.

It takes 4 years for the red stems to mature, by which point they have often fused together into ropes with a diameter of 4 inches (10 cm) and are smooth and woody.

The asymmetrical, clammy leaves reach up to 1.0 foot (30 cm) in length. They are magenta on the edges and amber at the center, and have smooth edges.

During late spring, the bine produces thousands of large violet flowers.
