Magenta Maple

This modest-sized tree grows up to 20 meters (65.6 feet) tall and lives for centuries, with the oldest known specimen being around 555 years old. It is somewhat resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a slender, curved trunk covered in fine, wrinkled, dark gray bark, and inside, the very light wood is pale brown.

The small bunches of branches are very long and thick and are covered with handfuls of soft, small, thick leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are magenta on the edges and amber at the center.

In early spring, it produces many clusters of small, light brown blossoms with kidney-shaped shaped petals. They fall easily and have no scent.

In late summer it forms large, lime, shelled seeds.

The roots are shallow and grow straight down, and overall the tree is sturdy and rigid.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with patches of undergrowth between them.
