Bloodvine

This small caudiciform grows up to 1 foot (30.5 cm) tall. The finger-like stem is green, and is covered in brittle lime spines. The wonky, blood red trunk can grow to as much as 1 foot (30.5 cm) in diameter at the top. Its red branches are long and thin and start growing halfway up the stem.

The large amounts of tattered-edged, finger-like leaves are generally white. They are frail, and do not detach easily.

It is quick growing, taking 7 months to reach maturity. Once mature, and only under the right conditions, several flowers with each petal a slightly different shade of beige grow at the top, reappearing after 3 years, but only when the conditions are right again. The flower head is largely flat with 24 widely spaced narrow petals. It has an overpowering scent that smells like petrol.

The caudiciform's skin is delicate, the purple flesh is rubbery, and the vivid red sap is thin.
