Silverfern

Shrub type: Deciduous (Evergreen - keeps its leaves all year round)

This short shrub grows up to 1 foot (30.5 cm) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 132 years old. It is not very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has many stocky, slanted stems covered in thin, silky, yellow-brown bark, and the wood inside is pine-coloured.

The branches are short, rigid and upright that and are covered with large amounts of small, spear shaped, leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are either purple, or silver with gold streaks, delicate and rough.

In late summer it produces many large, grey flowers with finger-like petals. They are sturdy and have a powerful scent that smells like onion.


It can grow in even the most barren lands.
Their seeds have hallucinogenic properties.
It is suitable for use as a construction material
