Speckled Black

This short tree grows up to 3 meters (9.8 feet) tall and lives for centuries, with the oldest known specimen being around 666 years old. It is very susceptible to disease and insect infestation.

It has a long and flexible, curved trunk covered in very thick, rough, brown and grey bark, and inside, the very hard wood is black with white speckles.

The small handful of branches are short and thick and are covered with thick bunches of waxy, small, slender, pointed leaves with irregular edges. The leaves themselves are either peach, or grey with dark green patches.

In late summer it forms large, black, winged seeds that spin and fall nearby.

The roots are shallow and grow straight down, and overall the tree is sturdy and difficult to uproot.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with the space between filled with undergrowth.
