Caramel

This short tree grows up to 5 meters (16.4 feet) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 57 years old. It is very resistant to disease but is susceptible to destructive insect infestation.

It has a slender, straight trunk covered in rough, brown and grey bark, and inside, the dense wood is yellow.

The branches are tall, rigid and upright and are covered with large amounts of sticky, giant, pleated leaves with toothed edges. The leaves themselves are slate at the bottom and caramel with orange splotches at the top.

In early spring, it produces large amounts of large, dark grey blossoms with spear shaped petals. They are hardy and have the faintest scent that smells like candle wax.

In late summer it forms medium-sized, copper berries.

The roots are shallow and grow straight down, and overall the tree is rigid and weak, and breaks apart easily.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with the space between filled with undergrowth.
