Silverfruit Tree

This short fruit tree grows up to 6 feet (1.8 meters) tall and lives for up to 20 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 28 years old. It is very resistant to disease but is susceptible to destructive insect infestation.

It has a slender, twisting trunk covered in paper-thin, silky, silver bark, and inside, the flexible wood is mahogany-coloured.

The thin clumps of branches trail down to the ground and are covered with small amounts of small, perforated leaves with irregular edges. The leaves themselves are found in gentle green and dull yellow varieties.

In early spring, it produces several small, bronze blossoms with spear shaped petals. They detach easily and have a delicate scent that smells like meat.

In mid-summer it produces tiny, slender, 3 pointed fruit. The waxy vibrant blue skin is stretchy and edible when roasted; it is sweet, and the crunchy bronze flesh is sour and sticky. The caramel seeds are small and are scattered throughout the fruit.

The roots are shallow and grow straight down, and overall the tree is rigid and brittle.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with clear space between them.
