Crimson Vine

Tree type: Deciduous (Grows upwards by clinging to almost any surface.)

This small tree grows up to 6 meters (19.7 feet) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 102 years old. It is very susceptible to disease and insect infestation.

It has a branched, twisting trunk covered in very thick, cracked, dark green bark, and inside, the medium-dense wood is black.

The branches are tall, rigid and upright and are covered with small amounts of fuzzy, huge, needle-like leaves with serrated edges. The leaves themselves are generally crimson.

In early spring, it produces hundreds of small, olive blossoms with spear shaped petals. They are very delicate and have no scent.

In late summer it forms large, subtle green seed pods.

The roots grow as a near perfect mirror of the tree above, and overall the tree is sturdy and difficult to uproot.

Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with grassy ground between them.

It absorbs an exceptionally large amount of water each day.
