Blueberry Tree

Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Grows upwards by clinging to almost any surface.)

This small fruit tree grows up to 7 feet (2.1 meters) tall and lives for up to 15 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 30 years old. It is susceptible to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a thick, curved trunk covered in thick, smooth, black bark, and inside, the hard wood is mahogany-coloured.

The branches are very long and thin and are covered with large amounts of huge, circular leaves with jagged edges. The leaves themselves are found in peach and amber varieties.

In early spring, it produces thick bunches of giant, blue blossoms with slender, pointed petals. They detach easily and have a weak scent that smells like honeysuckle.

In mid-summer it produces tiny, broad, flat fruit. The clammy azure skin is thin and edible when boiled; it is sweet, and the crunchy olive flesh is sweet and dry. The orange seeds are tiny and are scattered throughout the fruit.

The roots spread far and go deep underground, and overall the tree is rigid and brittle.

Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with grassy ground between them.

It usually houses a colony of beneficial insects.
