Bloodfire Starfern

This big caudiciform grows up to 8 feet (2.4 meters) tall. The needle-like stem is orange, and is covered in brittle blood red spines. The wonky, caramel trunk can grow to as much as 8 feet (2.4 meters) in diameter at the bottom. Its blood red or brilliant red branches are long and thin and start growing a quarter of the way up the stem.

The large amounts of irregular-edged, V-shaped leaves are brilliant green and peach. They are tough, and take little effort to detach.

It is fast growing, taking 5 months to reach maturity. Once mature, a handful of flowers, with solid lime petals decorated with dark grey lines and a caramel central disk, grow at the top, reappearing once every 6 years. The flower head is shaped like a star with 49 tightly layered, narrow petals. It has a weak scent that smells like burning wood.

The caudiciform's skin is nearly impenetrable, the slate flesh is soft, and the brilliant green sap is thin.
