Graystem
Succulent type: Stem succulent (Stores water in its stem)This modest-sized cactus grows up to 31 feet (9.4 meters) tall. It splits partway up the body to form 4 very thin stems. Each stem is gray, and is covered in thick sheets of fine, slate, hair-like spines.
It is quick growing, taking 2 months to reach maturity. Once mature, and only under the right conditions, a handful of flowers, with each petal a slightly different shade of aquamarine, grow at the top, reappearing after 5 years, but only when the conditions are right again. The flower head is shaped like a heart with 41 widely spaced, round-tipped petals. It has a delicate scent that smells like bleach.
The cactus's skin is delicate, the silver flesh is rough, and the slate sap is thin and can kill if consumed.
The leaves are extremely toxic, and very salty.
The stems are covered in large spikes.
It is suitable for making baskets and the like
