Emerald Shield Moss

This gray-green moss is commonly found blanketing small areas In marshes, and In rainy mountain ranges.
It is average-sized, growing up to 3 inches (8 cm) tall. It forms in extensive patches and they are slow to spread and grow, and is extremely delicate.
When mature, emerald shield-shaped capsules grow at the end of short, lime green sporophytes, eventually opening up during the late summer to release hundred of spores.
