Copper

Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Grows upwards by clinging to almost any surface.)

This big fruit tree grows up to 42 feet (12.8 meters) tall and lives for up to 10 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 26 years old. It is susceptible to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a flexible, curved trunk covered in wrinkled, light gray bark, and inside, the very dense wood is pale brown-grey.

The branches are short and slender and are covered with large amounts of tiny, broad, flat leaves with rounded edges. The leaves themselves are solid copper or brown, with magenta patches.

In early spring, it produces thousands of small, orange blossoms with broad, flat petals with a trumpet-shaped floral cup. They fall easily and have a weak scent that smells like fruity.

In late autumn it produces small, slender, 5 pointed fruit. The smooth red skin is thick and edible when cooked; it is bitter, and the very soft dark grey flesh is spicy and very dry. The blood red seed is large and sits at the end of the fruit.

The roots are shallow and widely spread, and overall the tree is rigid and weak, and breaks apart easily.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with grassy ground between them.
