Flower type: Perennial (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)

This short flower grows up to 4 inches (10 cm) tall. Its yellow-green stem is very thick, and the huge, emerald leaves are pleated with rounded edges. 4 leaves grow at the base of the stem.

Dozens of small flowers grow along the length of the stem. The flowers are 3 cm (1.2 inches) wide, with solid lilac petals decorated with olive dots and a brilliant purple central disk. The flower head is an uncoordinated mess of 30 curved petals. They are sturdy.

It has no scent, and it has very little pollen, but can cause severe allergic reactions. It is a self-pollinator.

It can flourish even in standing water.
