Hazelflower

This short flower grows up to 6 inches (15 cm) tall. Its orange stem is wispy, and the huge, red leaves are dark orange on the underside and are perforated with serrated edges. The leaves grow in pairs along the length of the stem.

Each stem splits 5 to 10 times; a single medium-sized flower grows at the end of each split. The flowers are 19 cm (7.5 inches) wide, with each petal a slightly different shade of hazel. The flower head is an uncoordinated mess of up to 40 petals. They fall easily.

It has the faintest scent that smells like candle wax, and it has a fair amount of pollen; it can cause severe allergic reactions. It is pollinated by insects and is particularly attractive to a specific species.
