Greyfruit Tree

Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Grows along the ground or other low surfaces.)

This small fruit tree grows up to 7 feet (2.1 meters) tall and lives for up to 20 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 60 years old. It is very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a knobbly, straight trunk covered in thick, knobbly, brown and grey bark, and inside, the medium-dense wood is yellow.

The excessive amount of branches are short and thick and are covered with small bunches of giant, thin leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are a shade of grey that gradient shifts to crimson at the top.

In early spring, it produces several medium-sized, bronze blossoms with 9 umbrella-shaped shaped petals. They are hardy and have a powerful scent that smells like paint.

In late autumn it produces small, asymmetrical fruit. The waxy green skin is thick and inedible, and the very soft purple flesh is bitter and savoury and very dry. The white seed is small and is in the centre of the fruit.

The roots are thick and spread across the surface, as well as underground, and overall the tree is rigid and brittle.

Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with the space between them filled with thick undergrowth.

It out-competes most other plants for nutrients and light.
