Purple Dawn

This short leaf succulent grows up to 4 feet (1.2 meters) tall. The thin stem is emerald, and is covered in brittle dark yellow spines. The tattered-edged, slender, pointed leaves are solid purple or amber, with blood red zig-zags. Copious amounts of them grow from the base in alternating layers of 2, then 4, then 6, and so on. The leaves are light, but take some effort to detach.

It is steady-growing, taking 2 years to reach maturity. Once mature, several flowers with petals that are either lilac or azure, with a yellow center grow at the top, reappearing once every 8 years. The flower head is shaped like a heart made up of 16 widely spaced, narrow petals. It has a weak scent that smells like rotten meat.

The leaf succulent's skin is thick, the lime flesh is smooth, and the bronze sap is thin and has hallucinogenic properties.
