Ashy Purple Twineflower

Flower type: Perennial (Grows upwards by winding itself around other objects and plants.)

This short flower grows up to 3 inches (8 cm) tall. Its emerald stem is wispy and straight, and the tiny, green or grey leaves are needle-like with tattered edges. A pair of leaves grow at the base of the stem.

Hundreds of large flowers grow along the length of the stem. The flowers are 1 cm (0.4 inches) wide, with petals that are pink on the underside and ashy purple on the top. The flower head is made up of many petals in raised layers. They are sturdy.

It has a soft scent that smells like freshly washed clothes, and it has very little pollen. It is a self-pollinator, but is also particularly attractive to bees.
