Bloodberry
Shrub type: Deciduous (Stores water in its stem)This short shrub grows up to 1 foot (30.5 cm) tall and lives for around 24 years. It is very resistant to destructive insect infestation but susceptible to disease.
It has several flexible, straight stems covered in fine, knobbly, brown bark, and the wood inside is light brown.
The branches are short stubs that and are covered with copious amounts of giant, asymmetrical, leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are lime and beige, sturdy and clammy.
In late spring it produces lots of small, grey blossoms with 8 V-shaped shaped petals. They fall easily and have a scent whose strength depends on external factors, such as soil quality and rain frequency that smells like blood.
In midwinter oval fruits ripen. The waxy lilac skin is tough and edible when cooked; it is spicy, and the soft sky blue flesh is sour and juicy. The blood red seeds are tiny and are bunched at the bottom of the fruit.
It is suitable for creating fine, soft textiles
