Waterstem Shrubby
Shrub type: Deciduous (Stores water in its stem)This big shrub grows up to 9 feet (2.7 meters) tall and lives for around 18 years. It is very resistant to disease but is susceptible to destructive insect infestation.
It has several flexible, straight stems covered in delicate, silky, black with white speckled bark, and the wood inside is pale brown.
The branches trail down towards the ground with dozens of twigs that and are covered with copious amounts of giant, sickle shaped, leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are found in hazel and light grey varieties, sturdy and soft.
It produces a handful of tiny, peach flowers with 8 V-shaped shaped petals. They are very delicate and have an intense scent that smells like rich perfume. In late winter it forms giantorange seed pods.
It is suitable for creating tough, hard-wearing textiles
