Violetfruit Tree

This big fruit tree grows up to 25 feet (7.6 meters) tall and lives for up to 20 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 48 years old. It is not very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a sturdy, straight trunk covered in thin, wrinkled, burgundy bark, and inside, the light wood is yellow-brown.

The sparse patches of branches are tall, rigid and upright and are covered with handfuls of huge, slender, pointed leaves with irregular edges. The leaves themselves are cream with violet tips.

In early spring, it produces hundreds of tiny, violet blossoms with crescent-shaped shaped petals. They detach easily and have a delicate scent that smells like apple.

In late autumn it produces very large, circular fruit. The waxy blood red skin is delicate and inedible, and the soft bronze flesh is bitter and dry. The intense green seeds are tiny and are scattered throughout the fruit.

The roots are thick and spread across the surface, as well as underground, and overall the tree is sturdy and rigid.

Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with the space between them filled with thick undergrowth.

It only grows on the most fertile lands.
