Clinging Elm

This large tree grows up to 63 meters (206.7 feet) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 117 years old. It is very susceptible to disease and insect infestation.

It has a thick, slanted trunk covered in paper-thin, cracked, yellow-brown bark, and inside, the hard wood is mahogany-coloured.

The branches are long and thin and are covered with sparse amounts of leathery, large, broad, flat leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are either olive, or grey with white dots.

In late summer it forms small, caramel, spiky-shelled seeds.

The roots are shallow and grow straight down, and overall the tree is rigid and weak, and breaks apart easily.

Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with patches of undergrowth between them.
