Magenta Blossom
Flower type: Annual (Grows along the ground or other low surfaces.)This giant flower grows up to 14.0 feet (4.3 meters) tall. Its pink-red stems grow in bunches of 6 and are thin with a curved tip, and the giant, yellow-green leaves are broad, flat with toothed edges. The leaves grow from the base and are the same length as the stem.
Two tiny flowers sit at the end of each stem. The flowers are 80 cm (31.5 inches) wide, with petals that are generally magenta; each flower tends to be a variation of this colour. The flower head is shaped like a bowl made up of 11 widely spaced, round-tipped petals. They are sturdy.
It has a scent that varies in strength that smells like varnish, and it has very little pollen, but can cause allergic reactions. It is pollinated by the wind, but is enjoyed by several specific types of insect.
It is suitable for creating flexible, durable textiles
The bark, wood and leaves are edible.
Their seeds have hallucinogenic properties.
