Copperleaf

This modest-sized shrub grows up to 4 feet (1.2 meters) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 101 years old. It is very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has dozens of narrow, twisting stems covered in knobbly, light gray bark, and the wood inside is mahogany-coloured.

The branches are short, rigid and upright that and are covered with handfuls of large, finger-like, leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are found in lime, sky blue and copper varieties, light and leathery.

It produces thick bunches of small, peach flowers with 8 heart-shaped shaped petals. They fall easily and have a mildly strong scent that smells like candle wax. In mid-autumn it forms medium-sizedgold, tough-shelled seeds.
