Turquoisevine

Shrub type: Deciduous (Grows upwards by winding itself around other objects and plants.)

This modest-sized shrub grows up to 4 feet (1.2 meters) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 183 years old. It is somewhat resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has dozens of sturdy, straight stems covered in silky, black bark, and the wood inside is light brown.

The branches are short and slender with thousands of twigs that and are covered with large amounts of huge, heart-shaped, leaves with irregular edges. The leaves themselves are turquoise on the sides and brown at the center, flexible and smooth.

In early summer it produces clusters of giant, bronze blossoms with asymmetrical petals with a trumpet-shaped floral cup. They are very delicate and have a weak scent that smells like lavender.

In late winter small wide fruits ripen. The waxy blue skin is thick and inedible, and the slightly crunchy turquoise flesh is salty and syrupy. The hazel seed is small and is in the centre of the fruit.

It absorbs an exceptionally large amount of water each day.
