Bluefruit Tree

Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Grows along the ground or other low surfaces.)

This small fruit tree grows up to 7 feet (2.1 meters) tall and lives for up to 20 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 40 years old. It is very resistant to disease but is susceptible to destructive insect infestation.

It has a stocky, straight trunk covered in smooth, burgundy and brown bark, and inside, the soft wood is dark brown.

The thin clumps of branches are very short, thin and wispy and are covered with handfuls of miniature, asymmetrical leaves with rounded edges. The leaves themselves are blue and lime.

In early spring, it produces copious amounts of medium-sized, grey blossoms with spiral shaped petals. They detach easily and have a fairly strong scent that smells like new books.

In early winter it produces , oval fruit. The leathery peach skin is stretchy and inedible, and the slightly crunchy cyan flesh is sour and dry. The silver seed is tiny and sits at the end of the fruit.

The roots are long and grow straight down, and overall the tree is sturdy and difficult to uproot.

Forests of this species feature well-spaced trees, with the space between them filled with thick undergrowth.
