Slate Starflower

Flower type: Annual (Grows upwards by winding itself around other objects and plants.)

This giant flower grows up to 11.7 feet (3.6 meters) tall. Its red stem is very thick, and the tiny, brown leaves are circular with serrated edges. Many leaves grow along the entire length of the stem.

Each stem splits 4 to 6 times; a single large flower grows at the end of each split. The flowers are 139 cm (54.7 inches) wide, with slate petals and a yellow center. The flower head is shaped like a star with 27 tightly layered, narrow petals. They are sturdy.

It has a delicate scent that smells like lemon, and it has copious amounts of pollen. It is a self-pollinator, but is also visited by a variety of insects.

It is suitable for making baskets and the like
Several parts of the shrub have medicinal properties.
It releases hallucinogenic smoke when burned.
It spreads easily and often blanket large areas.
