Twistvine

This short tree grows up to 2 meters (6.6 feet) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 171 years old. It is not very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a slender, twisting trunk covered in fine, waxy, black bark, and inside, the medium-dense wood is copper-coloured.

The branches are short, rigid and upright and are covered with large amounts of crispy, small, very narrow and elongated leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are a shade of red that gradient shifts to olive at the top.

In early spring, it produces many balls of small, black blossoms with circular petals. They detach easily and have a scent whose strength depends on external factors, such as soil quality and rain frequency that smells like fermented fruit.

In late summer it forms large, brown, spiky-shelled seeds.

The roots are long and grow straight down, and overall the tree is sturdy, flexible, and difficult to uproot or break.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with clear space between them.
