Lilac

This small flower grows up to 5 inches (13 cm) tall. Its lilac stem is very thin, and the miniature, gray leaves are wispy with smooth edges. Many leaves grow along the entire length of the stem.

A single small flower sits at the end of the stem. The flowers are 1 cm (0.4 inches) wide, with alternating petals of red and drab blue, with an indigo central disk. The flower head is largely flat with dozens of raised round-tipped petals. They fall easily.

It has a strong scent that smells like onion, and it has a fair amount of pollen. It is pollinated by insects and is particularly attractive to bees.
