Blood Red Petunia

Flower type: Perennial (Grows and flowers repeatedly for more than two years)

This large flower grows up to 3.9 feet (1.2 meters) tall. Its burgundy stem is wispy, and the giant, slate or sky blue leaves are circular with smooth edges. The leaves grow in pairs along the length of the stem.

2 to 4 giant flowers grow on alternate sides up the length of the stem. The flowers are 22 cm (8.7 inches) wide, with solid blood red petals and a white central disk. The flower head is an uncoordinated mess of 46 curved petals. They fall easily.

It has a strong scent that smells like musk, and it has an average amount of pollen. It is pollinated by insects , but only one species in particular.

The seeds are toxic to people but not to certain animals.
