Orange Velvet Moss

This orange moss is commonly found blanketing small areas In damp forests, and On rotten logs.
It is large, growing up to 6 inches (15 cm) tall. It forms in large clumps and they spread and grow quickly, and is overwhelmingly rigid.
When mature, emerald oval-shaped capsules grow at the end of elongated, lime green sporophytes, eventually opening up during the early winter to release thousands of spores; it does not cause any allergic reactions.
