Turquoise Fruit Tree

This average-sized fruit tree grows up to 13 feet (4.0 meters) tall and lives for up to 20 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 46 years old. It is very resistant to destructive insect infestation but susceptible to disease.

It has a thick, twisting trunk covered in delicate, silky, light brown bark, and inside, the hard wood is black.

The thin clumps of branches are very short and thick and are covered with sparse amounts of large, very thin leaves with wavy edges. The leaves themselves are solid turquoise or red, with drab orange streaks.

In early spring, it produces several giant, aquamarine blossoms with oval-shaped shaped petals. They fall easily and have a delicate scent that smells like coconut.

In mid-autumn it produces small, circular fruit. The clammy black skin is delicate and edible when roasted; it is sweet and sour, and the very soft azure flesh is sweet and oily. The beige seeds are small and are located in the centre of the fruit.

The roots are fine and grow in a large web, and overall the tree is sturdy and difficult to uproot.

Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with the space between them filled with thick undergrowth.

The grass is sweet and extremely toxic and while grains are salty and non-toxic.
