Cyanberry

This short fruit tree grows up to 9 feet (2.7 meters) tall and lives for up to 25 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 46 years old. It is not very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a branched, wonky trunk covered in very thick, smooth, mahogany-coloured bark, and inside, the very dense wood is white with black speckles.

The excessive amount of branches are very long and thin and are covered with large amounts of tiny, long, narrow leaves with jagged edges. The leaves themselves are either cyan, or blood red with white patches.

In early spring, it produces large amounts of medium-sized, cream blossoms with perforated petals. They are very delicate and have an overpowering scent that smells like cheap aftershave.

In mid-autumn it produces small, oval fruit. The smooth amber skin is tough and inedible, and the soft blood red flesh is sweet and oily. The brown seeds are tiny and are dotted around on the skin of the fruit.

The roots form a tightly packed ball, and overall the tree is rigid and brittle.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with the space between filled with undergrowth.
