Red Hazel Creeper
Climbing plant type: Creeper (Grows along the ground or other low surfaces.)This modest-sized creeper is a steady-growing plant, with the largest known specimen reaching a length of 27 feet (8.2 meters) and growing as high as 147 feet (44.8 meters).
It takes 18 months for the green stems to mature, by which point they can have a diameter of 5 inches (13 cm) and are rough and gnarled.
The fan-like, fuzzy leaves reach up to 5 inches (13 cm) in length. They are hazel on the edges and red at the center, and have jagged edges.
During late spring, the creeper produces many small dark brown flowers.
