Gray

Succulent type: Caudiciform (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)

This enormous caudiciform grows up to 24 feet (7.3 meters) tall. The needle-like stem is gray-green, and is covered in brittle white spines. The wavy, cream trunk can grow to as much as 24 feet (7.3 meters) in diameter at the bottom. Its light red branches are long and thin and start growing halfway up the stem.

The small amounts of smooth-edged, 4 pointed leaves are solid cream with orange dots. They are resistant, and easily come away when pulled.

It is slow growing, taking 12 years to reach maturity. Once mature, several flowers with beige petals and a yellow center grow at the top, reappearing once every 3 years. The flower head is made up of 9 petals in raised layers. It has a strong scent that smells like damp.

The caudiciform's skin is thin, the purple flesh is waxy, and the pastel blue sap is thin.

It is suitable for making baskets and the like
The colour changes depends on whether the soil is acidic or alkaline.
