Silvervine

Climbing plant type: Vine (Grows upwards by clinging to almost any surface.)

This modest-sized vine is a steady-growing plant, with the largest known specimen reaching a length of 40 feet (12.2 meters) and growing as high as 26 feet (7.9 meters).

It takes 15 months for the olive and moss green stems to mature, by which point they often have a diameter of 4 inches (10 cm) and are flat and wavy.

The thick, leathery leaves reach up to 1.7 feet (51 cm) in length. They are dark grey at the bottom and slate with azure streaks at the top, and have serrated edges.

During late spring, the vine produces handfuls of average silver flowers.

Ivy often grows along the trunk.
It is suitable for creating tough, hard-wearing textiles
The sap is edible and overwhelmingly sweet.
The colour changes depends on whether the soil is acidic or alkaline.
