Caramelberry

This colossal fruit tree grows up to 60 feet (18.3 meters) tall and lives for up to 35 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 56 years old. It is very resistant to destructive insect infestation but susceptible to disease.

It has a thick, twisting trunk covered in thin, silky, yellow-brown bark, and inside, the dense wood is black.

The branches are very short and slender and are covered with copious amounts of small, sickle shaped leaves with serrated edges. The leaves themselves are solid aquamarine with caramel dots.

In early spring, it produces several tiny, gold blossoms with stiff, pointed petals with a trumpet-shaped floral cup. They are sturdy and have a powerful scent that smells like onion.

In late summer it produces , oval fruit. The sticky pink skin is thin and inedible, and the very soft purple flesh is sweet and salty and powdery. The brown seed is tiny and sits at the end of the fruit.

The roots spread far and go deep underground, and overall the tree is rigid and brittle.

Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with clear space between them.
