Clinging Blueberry Tree

Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Grows upwards by clinging to almost any surface.)

This small fruit tree grows up to 8 feet (2.4 meters) tall and lives for up to 15 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 35 years old. It is not very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a sturdy, straight trunk covered in smooth, gray bark, and inside, the hard wood is black.

The abundance of branches are short and thick and are covered with thick bunches of giant, perforated leaves with serrated edges. The leaves themselves are orange and light grey.

In early spring, it produces lots of large, sky blue blossoms with umbrella-shaped petals with a tube-like floral cup. They fall easily and have a strong scent that smells like leather.

In mid-autumn it produces , broad, flat fruit. The waxy green skin is stretchy and inedible, and the very soft purple flesh is sweet and sour and sticky. The washed-out red seed is very large and sits at the top of the fruit.

The roots are long and grow straight down, and overall the tree is sturdy, flexible, and difficult to uproot or break.

Forests of this species feature well-spaced trees, with the space between filled with undergrowth.

It out-competes most other plants for nutrients and light.
It is suitable for use as a construction material
