Crimson Moss

This pink-red moss is commonly found growing in giant clumps On trees.
It is average-sized, growing up to 4 inches (10 cm) tall. It forms in thick clumps, and is overwhelmingly sturdy; it can easily endure being trodden on.
When mature, emerald triangular capsules grow at the end of long, lime green sporophytes, eventually opening up during the late summer to release dozens of spores; it can cause allergic reactions.
