Copper-colored

This average-sized tree grows up to 23 meters (75.5 feet) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 197 years old. It is very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a branched, straight trunk covered in delicate, rough, silver bark, and inside, the soft wood is copper-coloured.

The branches are very short and thick and are covered with very large amounts of smooth, small, needle-like leaves with ripped edges. The leaves themselves are solid dark red or beige, with peach streaks.

In early spring, it produces many large, silver blossoms with long, tapering petals with a trumpet-shaped floral cup. They detach easily and have a weak scent that smells like rotten eggs.

In late summer it forms large, dark grey seed pods.

The roots form a tightly packed ball, and overall the tree is sturdy and difficult to uproot.

Forests of this species feature well-spaced trees, with patches of undergrowth between them.
