Clinging Lilac

This small flower grows up to 6 inches (15 cm) tall. Its cream and slate stem is thick, and the giant, lilac or indigo leaves are thick with rounded edges. A pair of leaves grow at the base of the flower head.

Around 50 medium-sized flowers grow along the length of the stem. The flowers are 13 cm (5.1 inches) wide, with alternating petals of lime and pink, with a beige central disk. The flower head is an uncoordinated mess of 13 petals. They fall easily.

It has a delicate scent that smells like pepper, and it has a modest amount of pollen. It is pollinated by the wind, but is enjoyed by several specific types of insect.
