This copper moss is commonly found blanketing medium-sized areas In bogs, and In heathlands.
It is large, growing up to 7 inches (18 cm) tall. It forms in small clumps and they spread and grow quickly, and is overwhelmingly flimsy.
When mature, emerald oval-shaped capsules grow at the end of long, lime green sporophytes, eventually opening up during the late autumn to release dozens of spores.

It can flourish even in standing water.
The colour changes depends on whether the soil is acidic or alkaline.
It is suitable for making strong rope
