Winding Violet

Flower type: Annual (Grows upwards by winding itself around other objects and plants.)

This short flower grows up to 4 inches (10 cm) tall. Its moss green stems grow in bunches of 4 and are wispy with a curved tip, and the miniature, red leaves are V-shaped with serrated edges. The leaves grow in pairs along the length of the stem.

6 to 12 small flowers grow on alternate sides up the length of the stem. The flowers are 2 cm (0.8 inches) wide, with alternating petals of purple and deep green, with a hazel central disk. The flower head is made up of several petals; the lower layer of petals are flat, while the upper layers form a tight bowl. They are hardy.

It has a weak scent that smells like old shoes, and it has lots of pollen. It is pollinated by the wind.
