This copper moss is commonly found growing in large clumps In heathlands, and In marshes.
It is small, growing up to 2 inches (5 cm) tall. It forms in large clumps, and is very light; it burns easily in strong sunlight.
When mature, emerald cylindrical capsules grow at the end of short, lime green sporophytes, eventually opening up during the late summer to release hundred of spores; it can cause severe allergic reactions.

It is suitable for use as a construction material
It can survive a long time without water.
The sap is edible and very savoury.
